Children’s Village Grand Opening and Open House Event
(SIKSIKA NATION, June 13, 2024) — Siksika Family Service Corporation will be hosting an open house for the Children and Family Village. The Children’s Village is a collaborative project between Siksika Child and Family Services, Siksika Support for Independence, Henry Three Suns Child and Youth Society and Organizational Development and Community Engagement. There are twelve new structures within the Children and Family Village with unique services that will prioritize and assist families and community members of Siksika Nation, including transitional housing for families and youth within children services.
WHO: Siksika Child and Family Services, Siksika Support for Independence, Henry Three Suns Child and Youth Society and Organization and Community Engagement
WHAT: Will be hosting an open house and grand opening event that will include entertainment, traditional meal, information booths and tour of new facilities.
WHEN: June 20, 2024 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Children’s Village Siksika Nation, corner of HWY 901 and HWY 547, Coordinates 50.84744N 113.04755W
WHY: SFSC would like to invite the public to see current programs that will be operating within the Children’s Village.
Media is advised to confirm attendance there will be opportunity for photos of facilities and ribbon cutting. We ask the media to be respectful of any cultural or ceremonial practices that may take place at the event in which they may be asked to not take photos. Director of Child and Family Services, Yolanda Young Pine-Crowchild and program manager Marnai Yellow Horn will be available for interviews.
